Recently, I took a leap and signed up (on myspace) to join the Divide Social Club. I did this for a number of reasons, but mostly because I'm excited at what possibilities it could mean on many different fronts.
Little background for those not yet in the know; Divide Social Club is an extension of Divide Pictures which is owned and operated by "The Lords of the DSC." Actually, there are some pretty swanky names associated with the DSC, but if you really care about that stuff, than you can read about it on wikipedia.
What excites me about this group is that so far everyone in the group genuinely seems to be embracing the principle of friendship. It looks like a solid way to meet people in other areas of the world and in many sections of industries in an honest and trusting way.
I'm really looking at meeting up with some of the other members as I continue to build both my social and professional networks. Everyone has a cool vibe about them and seems to got each other's backs. I like that the DSC is more than just "one key person" and I love many of their mottoes - especially the "if I have to explain it then you wouldn't get it." I like that it's Hollywood without being too "Hollywood." I like the "come as you are" mentality and I fully appreciate the WOM marketing being generated for Divide as a whole.
To the Lords of the DSC, a hearty thanks. I'm excited to see where this takes us (all) and what positive change we can inflict, along with what great friends and talented people we'll meet along the way.
