WARNING! SPOILERS HERE IN!
I saw Disney's National Treasure: Book of Secrets last night at the theater. It was good. The only problem I have is that 90% of Disney's marketing gave away the entire plot, and the ending of the movie gave away the plot for a third sequel - but I'll get to that in a minute.
What I have learned is that I need to NOT watch commercials, trailers, or anything else that has to do with movies I'm looking forward to seeing. I know story telling too much to be surprised then when I actually do get to see the film.
Okay... let's talk about the last few seconds of the movie. When Ben Gates (Nicolas Cage) kidnaps the president and asks him where the Presidential Book of Secrets is located the president tells him it's hidden in the Library of Congress. He also tells him to read page 47.
During the final moments of the movie, the President asks Ben if he had a look at page 47 and Ben tells him "it's life altering." *Roll Credits*
Well that leads us into a sequel now doesn't it? What? You don't get it? Isn't it obvious! National Treasure works like this: a Treasure located in the USA and shrouded in mystery, codes, and conspiracies.
You still don't have it do you? (I figured this out before the credits started to roll.)
What "Treasure" is "life altering"? THE FOUNTAIN OF YOUTH!
A Series of Unfortunate Monograms

Yes My Hubby and I agree with you on The Fountan of Youth. We just finished watching NTII and TFOY was the our first thought. I would love to see one of the lead characters fall into or mistakenly drink drink from the fountain and become young. Maybe the fathe(?) We of course will have to wait and see. What else could "life altering" be?
TFOY is good but what about...
The lost tribes of Israel and the treasure of Solomon (historical, faith or religious impacts).
Remnants of Atlantis and their technology (historic & technological impacts).
The Bermuda Triangle.
Leif Ericson's lost settlement.

It can't be the lost treasure of Solomon because that's what they found in the first one (along with all the other world's treasures)
Atlantis is possible, but as far as I know, it's a Greek/Roman thing and has no common history with the US.
(Solomon's treasure does because of the Knights Templar/Freemasons)
You can't "find" the Bermuda Triangle. We already know where it is...you could discover what makes it so dangerous (though scientists believe it might be methane pockets that get released)
And Leif is a good idea, but what in it has treasure attached?
For now, I'm sticking with TFOY
I watched it with my family and we went back and paused it when he took the pic of the page. On the screen of the phone, it had a number on it. 51. Coincedence? Doubtfully, but you never know. It's up to the writers.

I believe that's Area 51 and he took the photo for Riley, because Riley was whining about it the whole movie. I don't believe that was page "47."
